Eagles Nest Outfitters (ENO) has several lines of hammocks that you can buy directly online as well as in brick and mortar stores. I picked mine up from my local sporting goods store, but you can pick yours up straight from Amazon where it is listed at $69.95.
Like most of ENO’s hammocks you have several color patterns to choose from. On the website I counted 48 different combinations ranging from purple/marigold to sunshine. Right off the shelf the hammock comes with a pair of carabiners and a stuff sack that doubles as a storage pouch when unstuffed. What it doesn’t come with right off the shelf though is straps or a patch kit. Those you have to buy separately, although I will say that the patch kit is not likely going to be used.
ENO claims that the hammock can support up to 400 pounds, and I can attest to that being accurate. They achieve this by using 70D High Tenacity Nylon Taffeta as the base material, and triple stitch the seams for added strength.
There are more than just a few benefits that come with the DoubleNest hammock. The first that comes to mind is weight. Stuffed into its stuff sack ,carabiners included, it weighs 19 ounces, which is just above a pound. It can be compressed down to 5″x5″ in its stuff sack. Because it is so light and compact, it is easy to throw into a backpack on a hike, or just to keep in your car for the occasional picnic.
Durability is often another concern when purchasing outdoor equipment. I have had mine for approximately 6 months now, and I often leave it out exposed to the elements. It so far has shown little signs of weathering. It dries very quickly and it is machine washable. Just make sure you air dry it rather than using a dryer.
Off hand I only have two qualms with the hammock itself. The first is that, since it is nylon, you can’t have it too close to a fire. This should be obvious, but should also be said. The other is that since it comes with no type of support bars it tends to “taco” in on you when you sit on it. This makes it so that it takes a little bit of time to get used to sitting comfortably in the hammock.
In summary the DoubleNest hammock is compact, light, durable, and very versatile. It does take some time to adjust to the seating position, but it is well worth the time. Whether you live in an apartment and only get to go outdoors some of the time, or you want to hang this in your back yard year round, I recommend this hammock.
